Power is back on!!!
Won't be blogging much real soon as we're still dealing w/ the contractors, but the roof is fixed, the power is back on and supposedly, via our State Farm rep, the check is in the mail. No money for loss of the tree, but $1800 to repair the ruts and 'track' scars from the 'bobcat' and the crane. $17,450 in home repairs, $9,100 for the tree removal. Total $28,350 with a $100 dollar deductable. We are so happy to have good insurance.
We avoided $6000 in electrical up grades the first electrician wanted, and got away with just putting up a new 'weatherhead'. I pulled a favor from one of my friends from DeKalb county government, and got the inspection expedited yesterday so we could get Georgia power to reconnect us.
After several calls to GA Power, we finally learned that this was declared a disaster area, and their was a disater info packet we were supposed to have gotten only after we got through all the trouble. GA Power would hvae sent their own electrian. We were somehow supposed to know about this packet - like we had TV to watch the news, or something.
The cars are still an issue, though. $1000 dollar deductable on the Volvo, and we're trying to avoid having them total it.
Thanks to everyone who wrote or otherwise sent us the good karma!
I'll start blogging here in the near future. Right now, I'm pretty ignorant of what's been going on around the world, so...
Oh, and waiting to see what happens w/ Ivan, and now I understand that Jeanne may hit hurricane status and hit the GA coast. My best to all those on the Alabama coast, and Florida Panhandle. Ivan may actually track over my folks place in Anniston, but hopefully it will be diminished by then.
